The staff at Groveton High School is looking forward to working with your son and/or daughter and your entire family this upcoming school year. We have included information in this article to help you and your family with the beginning of school.
The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 8 am. All students will report to the gymnasium at the 7:55 a.m. bell for an all-school assembly. The students will then proceed to class meetings to receive schedules and begin organizing for homecoming activities.
The following are the new staff members for the 2015-2016 school year: Lisa Perras, assistant principal; Patty Dugan-Henricksen, Middle School Science; Alexander Croteau, High School Science teacher; Kayla Croteau, High School Science teacher; Jennifer Watson, Special Education teacher; Sarah Haas, school nurse.
The fall athletic season begins Monday, Aug. 17 with practices for boys and girls varsity soccer. All incoming seventh, ninth and eleventh graders will need to have a physical examination before beginning participation. The boy's varsity team will practice at 3:30 p.m. and the girl's varsity will practice at 5; both practices will be held at the big ball field.
The guidance office will be open beginning Monday, Aug. 17th for students who need to register for school or for those students who have questions about their class schedules.
New student/parent orientation will be held in the library on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. Tours will be given of the school, roundtable discussions will take place to share our programs and answer questions, students will receive schedules and locker assignments, parents will receive login information for the grading program and the student handbook will be reviewed.
Parents and students are encouraged to access information about the school through our website (www.SAU58.org) and athletic schedules and school event schedules may be accessed through the www.highschoolsports.net website. Parents may gain access to their child's grades through our website as well. Login information to this site is available by contacting Karen Conroy at (603) 636-1437.
We would like to remind students and parents that the food service program is a contracted service and is operated on a debit system. Money must be paid in advance for students to access their accounts or they may pay cash. There will be no charging of any items. School lunch will cost $2.50 and breakfast will cost $1.50. Reduced lunch will cost $.40 and breakfast will be $.30. Free and reduced lunch forms will be handed out to students on the first day of school.
Groveton High School uses Berry Transportation as our school bus service. For questions or concerns regarding the bus schedules and/or bus issues, contact Berry Transportation at 636-6100.
Students and parents are reminded that parking around the high school is limited. You are encouraged to walk to school if possible or car pool in order to avoid parking shortages. The parking lot across from the school has been designated by the town as a "permit only" parking lot for Groveton High School staff members.
