Martha Wells, of Colebrook, N.H., has been elected to St. Lawrence University's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the national academic honor society. A member of the Class of 2014, Wells majors in biology and is a graduate of Colebrook Academy.

Election to Phi Beta Kappa is one of the highest distinctions of academic achievement a student can obtain. Election is based on grade-point average and completion of appropriate credits toward a St. Lawrence University degree. To be considered, students must earn a 3.5 or better cumulative grade-point average by the close of their junior year, and have completed six semesters at St. Lawrence, located in Canton, N.Y. Transfer students must have completed four semesters before they are eligible for consideration.
