BELMONT, CA -- SunEdison, Inc. (NYSE: SUNE), the world's largest renewable energy development company, recently announced that Jacob Lisner, a senior at North County Union High School in Newport, has been awarded a SunEdison Scholarship. Lisner is planning to attend Princeton University to study Mechanical Engineering.

Eighteen students from high schools across the United States were awarded scholarships through the company's signature SunEdison Scholars program. Recipients were selected from a large pool of applicants and represented project host communities in Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Utah, Vermont and Washington. This marks the sixth year for the successful community program and this year, winners were awarded a total of $71,000 in scholarships.

The SunEdison Scholars program offers one-time $3,000 college scholarships to students interested in renewable energy and science who live or go to school near SunEdison utility-scale projects that are in operation, construction or in an advanced stage of development. Students must display strong potential for educational excellence and an interest in pursuing studies focused on energy, the sciences or the environment. Vermont is the home of SunEdison's 40 MW Sheffield Wind Plant in the Northeast Kingdom.

"These scholarships are our way of supporting the higher education of young people in the communities where we have projects." said Paul Gaynor, executive vice president of SunEdison responsible for the North America Utility and Global Wind business unit, "We look forward to seeing the future innovation and advancements made by this year's scholarship recipients in the fields of energy, science and technology."
