The administration, faculty and staff of Littleton High School and Daisy Bronson Middle School welcome students in grades 7 through 12 for the 2012-2013 school year. The first day of school is on Monday, Aug. 27. The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.

Throughout this school year, we will continue to keep students, parents, and community members informed about our programs and activities through the use of the district website at www.littletonschools.org, newsletters, Edline, ConnectEd, newspapers and Channel 2. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to your involvement in the educational and co-curricular offerings at Littleton High School and Daisy Bronson Middle School.

Grades 7 & 8 Orientation: We will be hosting an orientation for seventh- and eighth-grade students and parents on Thursday, Aug. 23, in the cafeteria adjacent to our new Daisy Bronson Middle School wing on the grounds of Littleton High School. Seventh-grade orientation will take place from 5--7 p.m., and eighth-grade orientation will take place from 6--7 p.m. At approximately 7 p.m., seventh- and eighth-grade students and their families will meet with 7-12 administration and enjoy a pot luck dinner. Each orientation will be an opportunity for parents to meet teachers, receive an overview of their child's schedule, assist their child with locker information, as well as allow staff the opportunity to share curriculum-related information and review academic/behavioral expectations.

Grade 9/Freshman Orientation: We will be hosting an orientation for ninth-grade students on Friday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. and parents on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting/orientation is to review LHS policies/procedures, academic/behavioral expectations, and tour the building and classrooms.

School Lunches: Lunch Express numbers will again be necessary for purchases of food from the cafeteria. The price of a school lunch will be increased this year by five cents. The breakfast program will remain at $1.25 per day and will be available in the cafeteria each morning. Milk will cost $.50 per serving. Students are encouraged to prepay on each Monday morning for the week's meals. A free and reduced lunch program is also available for those who qualify. If there are any questions, please contact Christopher Parker, food service manager, at (603) 444-5601, ext. 5204, or e-mail him at cparker@littletonschools.org.

Health Update: Students entering Grade 7 are required to have a measles booster prior to entering school. A signed physician's note, with the date your child received the vaccine, must be on file in the Health Office. Students who can verify that they have already had a second measles vaccine do not need a booster. The State of New Hampshire also requires that students have a tetanus booster every 10 years. Please send documentation that your child is in compliance with this requirement to the school nurse. It is preferable that the required health-related documentation is on file in the Health Office prior to the start of school. At the latest, the required documentation may be given to the school nurse on the first day of school.

Fall Sports: All fall sports started Aug. 13. Students entering grades 7, 9 and 11 must have had a physical exam on record with the school nurse prior to starting practice for an athletic team. Students are required to present evidence of a satisfactory physical examination by producing a signed medical form, along with a parent permission form before practice this fall. Forms may be obtained at the main office at Littleton High School or in the main office of the CTC Center or may be accessed on the school website at www.littletonschools.org. Students must have all forms appropriately signed prior to the first practice. Pierre Lafitte will continue as the Daisy Bronson Middle School athletic director and we welcome Jeffrey Soule as the new athletic director for the high school. Any questions or inquiries regarding the athletic program for both schools should be directed to Judith Hazlett at (603) 444-5186, ext. 2205.

Opening Day: On the first day of school, students in grades 7-12 will attend an assembly organized and facilitated by the Littleton High School Student Council. The assembly will be an opportunity for all new students to meet Sikander Rashid, 7-12 principal, as well as receive important school-related information. Also on Opening Day, students will be issued emergency medical cards and registration forms which will need to be completed by students and their parents. Students will also be given a "Littleton High School/Daisy Bronson Middle School Student/Parent Handbook" which contains the yearly school agenda, discipline code and school calendar. Students are strongly encouraged to record their assignments in their "Agendas." Parents are requested to review the Student/Parent Handbook with their child and sign the form included where indicated. Completed forms should be returned to the school with their child on the following day.
