NEWPORT -- The students in Peter Alexander's Physical Education classes at North Country Union High School have been experiencing the "Winter Games", version 2015! The Winter Week was held at it's now usual early February dates, to take advantage of the cold weather and hard ice.

Through the courtesy of the Newport City Recreation Department, the students all got to enjoy the great outdoor opportunities that the Northeast Kingdom has to offer. Activities included touch football, snow-shoeing, street hockey, ice hockey, ice skating, sliding, visits to the Ice maze and the occasional shovel--pushing. All the activities took place at Gardner Park.

Supporting the activities were Andy Cappello, Mac McKenny, Jessica Booth, Chandler Prue and Steve Mayo from the Newport City Recreation Department; Wendy Buchanan and the NCUHS bus garage crew; and the NCUHS administration/school board.
