Helping Other People Everyday in Lyndon is making sure needy children and elderly are remembered this Christmas through their Angel Tree project.
Samantha Klepper, a staff member at H.O.P.E., said family members have supplied the name of a child, or perhaps an elderly person, to HOPE along with their age, gender, clothing sizes, needs and preferences. A person then hoping to bring a little cheer to someone draws a paper star off the Angel Tree with an identification number and all the corresponding information about the anonymous recipient to help them pick out an appropriate present.
Last year, 312 individuals had their names drawn from the Angel Tree. The need this year is so great that by Thanksgiving, HOPE already had 176 names, according to Klepper.
Klepper said someone who wishes to help out can work with HOPE to pick a child, an adult, a male or a female and can get some advice on what might make an appropriate gift.
