St. Johnsbury School students entertain at last year’s 50s Diner fundraiser. The event is back by popular demand this Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 at the St. Johnsbury School.

Get ready to put on your leather jackets and poodle skirts! On Oct. 4, the students and staff St. Johnsbury School will be hosting their second annual '50s-'60s Drive Thru Diner fundraiser, sponsored by St. J Subaru.

Last year's event was a huge success, and brought in over 250 community members to enjoy an evening straight from the Doo-Wop era. We are planning to make the event even bigger this year to send our students to see Cirque du Soleil in Montreal.

This event is one you won't want to miss. You and your family will be able to drive up to the parking lot, where your order will be taken for a hamburger, cheeseburger, or hot dog. Along with that, you will get a bag of chips, sweet and colorful button candy, and of course: a root beer float! Your meals will be brought to your car by one of our waiters or waitresses.

Once you've eaten, make your way to the dance floor and start moving your feet to Elvis and Chubby Checker through the speakers. Check out some classic cars from the era or make your way over to the photo booth where you can get your picture taken behind a Pink Cadillac to remember the night. You get all of this for only $5 per person.

The students and staff from the school are excited to be putting on this event again. Almost every student in the music program will be dressed up and ready to prepare and bring you your meal. Staff members have volunteered their time to help set-up and grill. The event would not be possible without help from several local businesses.

The Drive Thru will take place on Oct. 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the St. Johnsbury School.
