Beautiful pianos

To the Editor:

What a big shame is all these very old pianos are being destroyed because no one wants them at this point and no place to put them. This is the heritage of our families from way back then when most families had one in their homes and enjoyed listening to a family member playing it and others singing along. This is back when there was no television but could have had a radio in the family room that the family would sit around it when a certain show or news cast would come on. This was before my time but I am sure there are a lot of you out there that remember the days when this was common if the family was well off enough to afford a radio and piano. Now these piano's are being destroyed and put in a dump or sold for scrap just to get rid of them. I remember back in the early 70s we had to destroy one just to get it out of the upstairs apartment in a family home and it just didn't seem right even back then.

At the rate that families are getting rid of the old pianos because of the cost of tuning them or whatever reason for doing it it is a shame to see them all go. If I had a storage facility big enough I would accept all the oldies but goodies and put the away for future generations to see and enjoy. It is like the first or even the second or third car you ever owned in the past that you said "boy I wished I still had that rig today" I have said that myself on a few vehicles I have owned in the past.

So this is something for all the people that maybe could keep these antiques and keep the heritage going so maybe some holiday when all the family members come home { and that is if that even happens in many families any more } can still sit and stand around the old piano and play and sing the old songs of the past. I know there are a lot of you out there that would love to see this but families are just to busy or just do not care about getting together anymore like the old days and spend the holidays with each other.

So lets just hope we can bring some of that family togetherness back again and maybe it will keep some of these kids off the street and back home singing away at least on the holidays and you never know maybe that will turn a few around to think like the ones of us that would still like to see it.

I hope everybody has fun over the summer months if it ever comes and be safe cause a lot of people depend on you for one reason or another.
