End of life
To the Editor:
Now that the end of life bill has moved from the Senate to the House we can be hopeful that it will receive the careful evaluation it deserves. I am very much in support of end of life choice and hope that thoughtful members of the House will be able to bring the bill to a successful vote.
I believe that most Vermonters want to have a spectrum of choices at the close of life. Whatever one's personal feelings it is important to have the security of knowing one's family and friends will be close by, that wishes will be respected and that personal choice will be honored. However, as far as legislation in this area is concerned it is critical that true choice be offered and that serious safeguards and protections be integral to any bill proposed.
Our choices are important, they have value and deserve respect.
Let your representatives know that secure standards and patient centered focus must be part of any legislation offering end of life choice.
