No variance to SBA in Littleton

To the Editor:

On Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Community House, the Littleton Zoning Board of Adjustment will continue a hearing to consider granting a variance that would allow SBA Towers V, LLC to build a second communications tower right next to the existing New Hampshire Public Television tower on Manns Hill Road.

We are aware that there is a section in the Littleton zoning ordinance that states no other towers may be located within a mile of an existing tower without the approval of the Zoning Board. We also understand that NHPTV is in the process of developing a plan to replace its existing tower, next year, with a new tower of equal height to its existing tower that will accommodate all its existing tenants and any other tenants interested in locating on their tower.

While we appreciate the need to have towers for communications, having a second tower on Manns Hill on the ridge will have a negative visual impact, adding more clutter to the landscape, and potentially lowering property values. As residents who enjoy the beauty of living in northern New Hampshire, we ask that the Littleton ZBA not grant a variance to SBA. Surely, one tower is enough.
