Mr. Johnson's article
To the Editor:
The article by Michael Johnson provoked quite the negative response in the Friday, August 20 issue of The Caledonian-Record. The use of such adjectives as irrational, bigoted, distortion, hate filled, mindless blather, tripe, insane, rantings, hate speech, poisonous garbage and diatribe are rather enlightening to those of sound minds.
It's a sad day indeed when such emotional eruptions display such ignorance and intolerance to truth. Not one word was written to refute the well researched facts presented by Michael Johnson, not one. Mr. Johnson simply stated the truth as revealed by historical fact. Now I was taught as a young man in school (by my history teachers of course) that the study of history was important so that the generations following would not repeat the same mistakes their predecessors made to their hurt. Later on in my studies I learned that wiser men discerned "the only thing men learn from history is that men never learn from history." I perceive that their emotions will not allow it.
Now truth is not relative, it is absolute. It may greatly upset you but it will not be changed (change is the new buzz word) to suit anyone's feelings. Men may get together (legislature) and pass statutes that are contrary, contradictory and against the commands of God's law. But that does not change the law of God for true law (it's impossible for God to lie) is eternal, immutable and unchangeable. The Law of the LORD is perfect converting the soul.
Yes America began upon that foundation, not the unprovable evolutionist fairy tales of vain imaginations men who's minds are destitute of the truth. Behold! "we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator."
If all those adjectives describing Michael Johnson's person and article be true than surely they could easily refuted by facts proving otherwise. Prove all things. Hold fast that which is good abhor that which is evil. In malice be ye children but in understanding be men.
Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? Prudent and he shall know them? For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.
