BMU budget vote
To the Editor:
We are the Blue Mountain Union School YATST class and we need the community's vote. YATST (Youth and Adults Transforming Schools Together) is a new class this year in which students and faculty collaborate to improve the learning environment of the school. In the past few years, Blue Mountain Union has suffered due to budget cuts. This year, the first budget vote did not pass, once again. The next vote is right around the corner on March 26.
As involved students here at BMU we urge the community to show support for our small school and vote on that day. These budget cuts have been detrimental to the education we receive. Last year, cuts to the high school included loss of our only foreign language teacher and cuts in science, social studies, mathematics and guidance. There were also significant staff cuts in the middle and elementary school. In order to regain opportunities that will ensure the success of Blue Mountain students in the future, we ask that you come out to support us and vote on March 26 in Wells River, Ryegate and Groton.
Editor's note: Eight other people, all members of the Youth and Adults Transforming Schools Together class at BMU also endorsed this letter. Their names are on file for review.
