In accordance with the recent Presidential Flag Order, Governor Tom Wolf ordered United States and commonwealth flags on all commonwealth facilities, public buildings and grounds to fly at half-staff in honor of the victims of the terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan on August 26, 2021.

It isn’t over, yet, for the United States in Afghanistan. We still have people there and, also, lots of equipment. We will try to get the people out and one prays that these efforts will succeed. As for the equipment … the only good news is that there is so much of it and a lot of it is sophisticated beyond the abilities of our enemy to operate and maintain.

President’s press conference was either a disaster or a mild success … depends on who is passing judgment. What nobody is saying, however, is that the events that made the press conference necessary were anything but a catastrophe for the United States and a tragedy for tens of thousands of Afghanis. Words, no matter how artful, can take you only so far.
