The St. Johnsbury Academy girls basketball team downed North Country on Tuesday night, 52-35.

Sara Bechtold paced the Hilltoppers with 18 points and pulled down six rebounds. Deveny Degre led the Falcons with 12 points.

The Academy jumped out to an early lead and by halftime were up by 10 points. The Hilltoppers put the game away in the third stanza when they outscored the Falcons by 10 points.

quot;We came right out and played good defense, especially in the third quarter,quot; said SJA coach Jack Driscoll. quot;Sara Bechtold had another great game for us.quot;

The Hilltoppers (4-1) will travel to BFA - St. Albans on Friday for a 6:45 p.m. game.

In JV action the Hilltoppers posted a 54-39 victory over the Falcons.
