Capital Division Names All-Star Teams - From St. Johnsbury Academy, first team honors went to Laurie Lang, senior forward; Pat Lang, sophomore goalie and Lindsay Bona, junior forward. Lang was named to the starting team.

Claiming first team honors from Lyndon Institute were senior forward Naomi Drown.

Jessie Maher earned first team recognition from Lake Region. The senior midfielder was additionally rewarded with starting team status.

From Oxbow, Tiffany Burroughs-Pearl made the first team and the junior midfielder was also awarded starting team honors.

Earning second team honors from St. Johnsbury are Emily Gibbs and Heather Lyman, from Lyndon Institute Bobbie Hever and Jen Kirchoff, from Lake Region Meghan Mientka was named to the second team as well Tiffany Perkins, Vicky Danforth and Erica Sleeper from Oxbow.

Central Vermont League All-League Girls Soccer - Two Blue Mountain Bucks claimed All-League honors for the 1998 season. Named to the first team was junior Katie Nelson.

Senior captain Christy Gould earned second team honors.

NVAC Mountain Division Boys Soccer All-League Team - Jason Sevigny and Ben Pollard earned All-League distinction for the Danville Indians for the 1998 season.

LSC Tennis Champ Named - Sabrina Matthews captured the first NAIA Regional Tennis Championship in LSC's women's tennis history recently at Castleton State College.

The sophomore physical education major from Ashland, N.H. won her title at the number three singles slot as the Hornets went on to place third in the event.

SJA Alumnus Marathons In Washington - Peter Hammer, a SJA graduate and former tennis coach who now resides in Denver, ran in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., Oct. 25.

Hammer is an avid runner, competing in several regional and smaller races. This, however, was his first marathon. Hammer is the son of Ken and Gretchen Hammer of St. Johnsbury.

Three Former High School Graduates On VTC Baseball Team - Joey Dwyer and Chris Dudas, both of Lyndonville, and Brian Douglas of St. Johnsbury were on Vermont Technical College's varsity baseball team this year, which went 16-7 and became the Northern New England Small College Conference regular season and tournament champs.

Dwyer played in 11 games, batted .400 with four stolen bases. He played shortstop, right field and left field.

Dudas, meanwhile, was a captain of the team, playing in 20 games, batting .303 and led the team with 66 at-bats and five sacrifices. He had 20 hits and scored 16 runs, while playing shortstop and outfield.

Douglas was also a captain of the team and played second base. He batted .308 in 18 games with 12 hits, 15 runs scored and 10 runs batted in.

Colebrook Graduate On VTC Basketball - Colebrook's own Lance Boire will be one of five returners to the Vermont Technical College's men's varsity basketball team this winter. Described as a quot;silky, smooth guard from Colebrook,quot; Boire is expected to start as a point guard after averaging nearly 12 points last year for the team.
