GROVETON — Lauryn St. Cyr opened fire for six 3-pointers and 20 points to power the Groveton girls to a 62-29 victory in the season opener with Gorham on Friday.
For the first game, coach Tim Haskins was worried about the matchup with Gorham’s size. “We forced turnovers early, ran the ball well and our perimeter shooting was nice for us.”
No worries after a slow start and the score tied. Emmalee Deblois came off the bench with the spark needed for a six-points-in-37-seconds run with four from Deblois that broke open the 7-7 game. A reverse layup by Brooke Routhier brought a 15-9 lead at the quarter turn and six different Eagles had added points.
