Thoughts on the Out-of-Doors: Floating Arkansas’ Little Maumelle River

It was hot and humid. The TV kept announcing a “heat advisory” and urging people to stay inside. One might wonder what I was doing kayaking in Arkansas during a heat wave being a northern boy who does not do well in the heat.

I had made arrangements to kayak on the Little Maumelle River Water Trail prior to the start of the annual conference of the Outdoor Writers Association of America that would commence the next day. Despite the heat, was glad I had as the float was both enjoyable and educational.
