Thoughts on the Out-of-Doors: Skiing with Henry Knox

“Skiing with Henry Knox” is a love story, one man’s attempt to consider what to do with his life while skiing the length of Vermont on the Catamount Trail and also a lesson in Revolutionary War history. I found it very enjoyable reading and an enticement to find out more about Henry Knox.

Sam Brakeley, a trail builder, stone mason and adventurer had to make a difficult decision in 2015. Elizabeth, his girlfriend of a decade, had finished medical school at Dartmouth and was heading to Utah for a residency. Sam was torn between following the woman he loved and remaining in Vermont, a place he loved, and doing the job he loved while being near friends and family who meant so much to him.
