LYNDON CENTER -- St. Johnsbury Academy skated to a 4-4 tie with Mount Mansfield on Wednesday night.

Matt Whirley scored on an assist from Brian Till and Ben Almy at 1:27 into the game to give the visitors an early one goal lead.

Kevin Fleurie answered with an unassisted goal at 9:31 to tie the game at 1-1 before he gave the Hilltoppers a lead nine seconds later on an assist from Andrew Trask.

Kevin Daly scored the next SJA goal on an assist from Trask at 49 seconds for a 3-1 lead at the end of the second period.

At 3:11 Fleurie got a hat trick on an assist from Trask for a 4-1 SJA lead.

Whirley posted two more goals for Mount Mansfield before Almy notched the game-tying goal in the third period.

quot;I think this was a good effort but we had some defensive breakdowns that cost us,quot; said Academy coach Brian Trask.

SJA (1-0-1) will play LI on Saturday at 7 p.m.
